Are you a
candidate for complete dentures??
Complete dentures are given after all the teeth have been
lost/removed. So, ideally the treatment should start only after the tissues
have healed well. But, in some instances because of social and aesthetic
concerns, the patient may not be able to go through a phase without teeth. So,
in such cases, taking the patients’ requirements into consideration, an
immediate denture can be delivered right after removal of the front teeth.
Complete
dentures can be either “conventional” or “immediate.” Made after the teeth have
been removed and the gum tissue has begun to heal, a conventional denture is
ready for placement in the mouth about eight to 12 weeks after the teeth have
been removed.
Unlike
conventional dentures, immediate dentures are made in advance and can be
positioned as soon as the teeth are removed. As a result, the wearer does not
have to be without teeth during the healing period. However, bones and gums
shrink over time, especially during the healing period following tooth removal.
Therefore a disadvantage of immediate dentures compared with conventional
dentures is that they require more adjustments to fit properly during the
healing process and generally should only be considered a temporary solution
until conventional dentures can be made.

Why should
we wear complete dentures?
Replacing
missing teeth enhances your oral, general health and your appearance. Dentures
also improve a person’s ability to speak and to eat.
How Are Dentures Made?
The
denture development process takes 6-7 appointments. Once your prosthodontist
determines what type of appliance best suits you, the general steps are to:
- Make a
series of preliminary and final impressions of your jaw and take
measurements of how your jaws relate to one another and how much space is
between them.
- Fabrication
of models, wax patterns, and/or plastic patterns in the exact shape
and position of the denture will be made. You will “try in” this model and
the denture will be assessed for colour, shape, and fit before the final
denture is cured.
- Cast a
final denture
- Adjustments
will be made as necessary.
- Recall and
assessment of denture.
Will Dentures Make Me
Look Different?
Dentures
are made to closely resemble your natural teeth so it will enhance your overall
personality and improve your smile and built you with more confidence.
Will
Eating With New Dentures Be Difficult?
Eating
with new dentures will take a little practice and may be uncomfortable for some
wearers for a few weeks. Your dentist will guide during this phase.
What Do
New Dentures Feel Like?
New dentures may feel a little odd or loose for a few
weeks until the muscles of the cheeks and tongue learn to keep them in place and you get
comfortable inserting and removing them. Also, it is not unusual for minor
irritation or soreness to occur and for saliva flow to increase when you first
start wearing dentures, but these problems will diminish as the mouth adjusts.
Will
Dentures Change How I Speak?
After
getting dentures, you may have difficulty pronouncing certain words. If so,
practice by saying the difficult words out loud. With practice and with time
you will become accustomed to speaking properly with dentures.
Are
Dentures Worn 24 Hours a Day?
Your
dentist or prosthodontist will instruct you as to how long to wear dentures and
when to remove them. Minor adjustments will be done during your first check-up
appointment, after this you should remove dentures before going to bed. This
allows gum tissues to rest and allows normal stimulation and cleansing by the
tongue and saliva. The denture can be placed back in the morning.
Should I
Use a Denture Adhesive?
A
denture adhesive may be considered under the following circumstances:
- To enhance
satisfaction with a properly constructed denture. Adhesives enhance
retention, stability, bite force, and an individual’s sense of security.
- To assist
individuals with dry mouth conditions that lessen denture adherence, such
as individuals taking cold medications, those with neurologic disabilities
including strokes, and the elderly.
- To provide
added stability and security for those who place unusual demands on facial
muscles, such as public speakers or musicians.
When
Shouldn’t Denture Adhesives Be Considered?
There
are situations when denture adhesives should not be used. Those cases include:
- When it is
used as a “fix” for ill-fitting or poorly constructed dentures. If
dentures begin to feel loose, cause discomfort or cause sores to develop,
contact your dentist as soon as possible.
- When a
dentist has not evaluated dentures for a long time. Dentures rest on gum
tissue and the jawbone, which shrink and deteriorate, respectively, over
time. Therefore, the real problem might be a need for a denture adjustment
or new dentures.
- When oral
hygiene practices cannot be sustained.
- When any
known allergy exists to the adhesive’s ingredients.
How Are
Denture Adhesives Applied?
Here
are some tips to consider when applying denture adhesives:
- Distribute
the adhesive evenly on the tissue bearing surface of the denture.
- Apply or
reapply when necessary to provide the desired effect.
- Always
apply the adhesive to a thoroughly clean denture.
- Remember
adhesives work best with a well-fitting denture.
Are There
Alternatives to Dentures?
Yes, dental
implants can be used to support cemented bridges, eliminating
the need for a denture. The cost is usually greater, but the implants and
bridges more closely resemble the feel of real teeth. Dental implants are
becoming the alternative to dentures but not everyone is a candidate for
implants. Consult your dentist for advice.
REMOVABLE FLEXIBLE
PARTIAL DENTURE
Flexible
partials are the latest trend in market to provide you with more comfortable
experience than traditional plastic partial dentures. They are used when only
few teeth are missing and in cases where in a fixed bridge is not possible.
Traditional plastic dentures could be traumatic to use and is more prone for
breaking. Flexible denture is more comfortable to use and maintain.

OVER DENTURES
Overdentures are replacement of your teeth which rest either
on natural teeth or dental implants. The drawback with conventional dentures is
that the first denture was usually satisfactory but with each passing year
& with each subsequent denture, patients become more intolerant of their
prosthesis. The resorption of bone began a vicious cycle of an ill-fitting
denture, causing inflammation, which in turn increases the resorptive process,
creating an even more unstable base, repeating the entire process once again.
With overdenture you will have more control over your
dentures they by fewer complications.
BENEFITS OF OVER DENTURES
Overdentures offer a variety of advantages as compared to
conventional dentures. While some of these advantages are purely cosmetic, all
of these can affect your quality of life, making you happier and healthier.
Eat the Food You Love
When conventional dentures are secured with adhesives, the
hard and chewy foods you love are often difficult to eat. Implant-retained
overdentures can also even improve your dietary health by putting more
nutritious foods back on the menu. With implant retained overdentures, you can
chew your food more completely which aids in digestion. This increases the
nutrients your body is able to absorb.
Regain Your Self
Confidence
An implant-retained overdenture can help stop the
deterioration of your natural facial contours. Keeping this bone alive and
stimulated is the only way to halt the resorption (shrinkage) that naturally
occurs in areas where your natural teeth have been lost. In addition, because
the overdenture is secured with implants you will not have to worry about
embarrassing dislodgment.
No More Adhesives
Adhesives for denture retention, while convenient for some,
do not truly secure your dentures to your ridge. Conventional dentures that are
held-in with adhesives can easily dislodge, affect the taste of the foods you
eat and can be very messy. Because the retention and stability is un-matched
with implant-retained overdentures, you’ll no longer need the added cost, mess
and hassle of adhesives to keep your dentures in place.
Improve Your Quality of
Life
Implant-retained
overdentures secure your teeth in your mouth and can reduce or eliminate
movement, improve the aesthetics of your smile, improve chewing functions,
improve speech and have a positive impact on your physical and psychological
health.
FIXED PARTIAL DENTURE
FIXED PARTIAL DENTURE (BRIDGEWORK /IMPLANTS)
Have
you have lost teeth due to accident, injury, or gum disease? Unhappy with
your smile….. want a makeover? Then you have made a right choice being
here, at AD&IC we can create a permanent bridge to restore your solid
smile. A bridge not only fills the gap, but it also prevents the
repositioning of remaining teeth. It can also correct a misaligned bite,
improve chewing function, speech articulation and provide internal
structure for the face to give you a more youthful appearance.
Crown and Bridge
Crowns and bridges are fixed artificial teeth that deal with
the restoration of damaged teeth. Unlike removable devices such as
dentures, which can be taken out and cleaned daily, these are cemented
onto existing teeth and can only be removed by a dentist.
Crown
Also called as a & quot;cap”, it completely
encircles a tooth.
Crowns are usually indicated
In cases of
large restorations,·
To strengthen
non-vital teeth after a root canal treatment and·
To protect the
structure of a tooth that is fractured or broken.·
Besides strengthening
a damaged tooth, a crown can be used for cosmetic or functional reasons to
improve its appearance, shape or alignment.·
Crowns
can be made of Porcelain fused to metal or all-ceramic to match the
color of natural teeth or of other materials like gold, metal alloys and
acrylic.
Bridges
Unlike crowns which are single units, a bridge is made
up of 2 or more units. It may be recommended:
if one or more teeth
are missing·
where implants cannot
be done·
where cost is a
consideration·
Bridges are cemented to the natural teeth on either side of
the missing tooth. As with crowns, there is a choice of materials for
bridges. Your dentist can help you decide which to use, based on the
location of the missing tooth (or teeth), its function, aesthetic
considerations and cost. Porcelain or ceramic bridges can be matched to
the color of your natural teeth.
At AD&IC our in house futuristic laboratory is well
equipped with latest technology and well trained technicians to you with
best in class crown and bridges. We offer metal ceramic and metal free
(all ceramic) crown and bridge works keeping up with the latest trend in

How long do
Crowns and Bridges Last?
Crowns and bridges can last a lifetime, but require regular
checkups and good maintenance of oral hygiene. They do sometimes come
loose or fall out, but can be fixed back, if brought back to a dentist
immediately. A bridge can lose its support if the teeth or bone holding it
in place are damaged by dental disease.
Proper maintenance by brushing twice a day and flossing
daily will ensure longevity of the restoration.
To prevent damage to your crown or bridge, avoid chewing
hard and sticky food.
If
you have questions about crown and bridgework or any other dental
prosthetic, call our office. We will be happy to discuss
the options and schedule your evaluation.

Ceramic (metal free zirconium crown)
Metal
free ceramic restorations, as the name suggests, do not have a metal framework.
These are extremely strong ceramic materials with excellent optical properties.
Patients now have a selection from Zirconium Oxide, Aluminium Oxide to Lithium
Disilicate. These are clinically proven metal free ceramics which are highly
bio-compatible aesthetic and can be used to fabricate restorations that appear
life like.
BENEFITS
- Cosmetic Beauty
All-porcelain
crowns are translucent and smooth, matching the size, color and shade of your
original teeth. This makes it difficult to notice that a damaged tooth is being
hidden and protected. All-porcelain crowns are a perfect choice for the
front teeth restoration.
- No Dark Line
Unlike
porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns (PFM), all-porcelain crowns don’t have a
problem of a dark line as they all made of white porcelain that perfectly
imitates your natural tooth enamel. When porcelain fused to metal is used for a
crown, a receding gumline can show some of the dark metal, but an all-ceramic
crown will not display such a line.
- Non-allergic
All-porcelain
crowns are made of biocompatible material, so there is no risk of allergic
reactions and gum irritation.
- Single visit Options
Unlike
other traditional techniques which require minimum two dental visits and some
turn-around time between the procedures, all-porcelain crowns can be done
in one appointment. Our partner lab is equipped with technology that can
deliver your crown within 24hrs.

CAD-CAM
AD&IC is
in pace with current technology and ever rising industry standards. CAD/CAMs
are the latest dental innovations which give a micron level accuracy in the fit
of the dental prosthesis. This provides much stable crown fit and occlusion
thus avoiding revisits to the clinic once the treatment is complete. Hence
these latest advancements provide great comfort to our patients.
CAD-CAM is the acronym for computer-aided
design and computer-aided manufacturing,
it offers high precision and high quality restorations. The whole process
involves 3D designing and imaging of the teeth using computer software. Once
the restoration is designed by the computer under the direction of a dentist,
the information is sent to a sculpting machine which creates the restoration to
exact specification. The precision and fit of such crowns are much superior to
manually built-up crowns.
Why use CAD-CAM systems to fabricate dental
restorations?
Dental CAD-CAM systems have advantages that cannot be
matched with respect to the strength of materials and precision of the
restorations. Dental materials used here are manufactured using standardized
manufacturing procedures under strict quality control. These materials are
generally better in quality, strength, and durability than those used to make
dental restorations in the traditional casting process. Furthermore, due to
computer controlled milling process, the materials are not subjected human error
that can lead to problems. Therefore, dental restorations fabricated from
CAD-CAM systems possess optimum strength (all-ceramic materials have a flexural
strength > 500 MPa). In terms of a restorations precision, because of the
accuracy of the scanner, software, and milling machine in a CAD-CAM system, the
fit of the dental restorations is quite predictable.
